beginner wheel throwing
The beginner wheel throwing class has no set skill level. The instructor will start from the beginning and show you how to center, wedge clay, and hopefully make some pots. If you’re new or just want a brush up this is the class for you. Each six week class comes with a session long (6 week) member studio pass for time during open hours outside of class. The first 25lbs of clay and one firing are on the house.
Open Enrollment Kids Class on Saturdays
BCS is excited to announce an Open Enrollment Kids Class on Saturdays from 12:30pm- 2:00 pm . This drop in style class is open to kids from the age of 6 to 12 and will cost $30 per student. The class will be limited to 10 students and spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis so try to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to ensure a spot in this class.
Friday night Beginner Throwing Class.
Start from the very beginning with Christie Cooper. We will work on how to throw pottery on the potters wheel and hand-build with coils and slabs of clay. We will learn how to center the clay, make cups and bowls. The class includes 25lbs of clay, one free firing and the use of the studio glazes. Come down and get your hands dirty.
This class will concentrate on developing hand-built teapots. The instructor will teach soft-slab, hard-slap, and coil-building techniques in order to create our teapots. There is no skill-set required so if you are new or just want to learn some new techniques this class will be a lot of fun.
In the Pots with Parts class we will start making pots with lids, cups with handles vessels with spouts, and finish up with a teapot combing all three parts. We will talk about how to incorporate each part into the body of the piece for a seamless design and function. Come with a sense of adventure and a smile.
Come explore new ways to use the potters wheel. In this class we learn alternative processes on the wheel as well as learning to combine hand-built elements with thrown forms.We will learn hand-building, throwing and glazing techniques. All skill levels are welcome.This class runs for six weeks.

Description:The Set With Style class will focus on making a set of bowls, cups, mugs, plates and a centerpiece. We will work on the pottery wheel as well as hand building. Ben will work with you on creating each piece and find a way to add your style to the set. We will also discuss decorating and glazing ideas, so come with a sense of humor and an open mind.
